Golden Camel Mining is a private Australian company assembling a complete operation — mines, processing and power — in the goldfields of Central Victoria.
Who we are
Victoria’s next quality gold producer.
Our aim is straightforward: to become the next top-quality gold producer in Victoria, at what we believe is the best address in Australian gold mining.
GCM was formed in 2014 to consolidate a group of mining and exploration leases in the Colbinabbin, Toolleen and Heathcote country of Central Victoria. Over the years since, the company has done the unglamorous work that decides whether a mine is ever built — drilling, trial mining, environmental studies, community agreements, and permits.
We sit close to Fosterville, the highest-grade and lowest-cost gold mine in the world at its peak, and to Costerfield, one of the world’s premier gold–antimony mines. The Golden Camel mines and projects carry the same geology that Fosterville carried in 1995, before the sulphide discovery that changed how the district was understood.
Today GCM is a private company under the stewardship of directors with complementary strengths in mining engineering, geology, processing and commerce — several of whom explored these very deposits earlier in their careers.
What sets GCM apart
Four things that are difficult to replicate.
Ground can be bought and drills can be hired. Approvals, operating history and district knowledge cannot.
GCM is the only group to have obtained a metalliferous open pit mining permit in Victoria in the last two decades, and the first to receive full approvals to construct a processing facility under the state's tightened post-2019 regulations.
Approvals for new tailings storage have become very difficult to obtain in Victoria. GCM holds existing, expandable permits on an already-disturbed site — a structural advantage rather than a temporary one.
Our geology leadership carried out the original exploration across the GCM deposits while working in the district, and members of the team were involved in the Fosterville sulphide discovery. Our process manager has previously treated Golden Camel ore.
Rail, road and grid power serve the ground. Neighbouring landholders are shareholders, and the local transport contractor who will haul our ore owns the land the first mine sits on.

The setting
The company’s ground lies north of Melbourne in the Waranga and Heathcote districts, an area of broadacre cropping and grazing with a long mining history of its own. Bendigo, Heathcote, Rushworth and Nagambie are all close at hand, which means workforce, contractors, services and power are already there.
The tenure
GCM holds granted mining licences and exploration tenements covering the four deposits, together with the approvals attached to them. The Nagambie Processing Hub sits east of the mines on a previously disturbed site owned by our joint venture partner, reached by sealed road.
The neighbours
Fosterville lies a short distance to the west and Costerfield to the south. Both are producing mines drawing on the same mineralised system that runs through the Golden Camel ground — which is the single most important fact about where we are.

How we intend to operate.
A private company can still hold itself to a public standard. That has been the basis of every approval we have received.
Environmental responsibility
Through trial mining and exploration, GCM adopted the highest standard of controls, monitoring and rehabilitation. Our projects are designed for a minimal surface footprint across exploration, mining and closure.
Social licence
Friendly working relationships with neighbours and local communities have been established at the Golden Camel sites, with employment and long-term local supply treated as part of the project rather than a by-product of it.
